Amazon has a new feature. The ‘author rank’.
This means, every hour, Amazon.com does an update of overall rankings of the most popular author. Gee, something else for all the already neurotic authors to obsess over!
The way it works is thus; your author rank is calculated and updated every hour according to your current book sales. I guess that means you’re also the top selling author in that hour. What fun it would be to watch yourself bob up and down the top 100 or even the top 10 over a day or a week!
The idea behind it is to give readers more info and choice regarding the books they puchase on Amazon.
If you are an author, you can check out your ranking by going to your author central login.
I checked out my Amazon author page, and this is my current ranking, 345,086.
